Plush Concept, inspired by my work

At Intel, I get to work with some pretty big toys. Of course, the obvious thing to do is to anthropomorphize them.

Makar has a new friend. New friend is not amused.

This started almost a year ago with a concept, when I drew cartoon versions of my equipment platform for a wedding card for a fellow coworker.

Because a bow tie can make anyone look dapper.

The character slowly evolved past that, making its way into signs, idle doodling, and occasional written communications within my team. With light encouragement from my peers, the plush version came to be over a weekend.

A majority of the sewing was done by machine. All of the decorations were sewn on by hand, first applied with a little bit of fabric glue (it seemed to hold things in place better than pins). It took every last bit of stuffing and craft batting I had on hand to make this as plump as it is.

He made his way into the office the following work day, and there were many hugs all around.

He is not quite sure what to think of himself.

04/01/14 Update!

Since making novelty miniature-sized versions of things is a thing (sure), a ~1/8 sized version of the original plush eventually made its way into production! Ended up not being as squishable as the original, but was slightly more dapper.

HE ALSO DOUBLES AS A TINY HAT!

At least one of them was excited when it came to be my turn for the weekly staff meeting snack rotation…

Cupcake cones are the only things I can make :C
